Job Title : North Vietnam Footwear Operations Manager
Yearly Salary: $50,000 – $70,000 + good benefit or negotiate
Report to: Regional Managing Director
Working location : Hai Phong, North Vietnam
Scope of work:
- Oversees and is responsible for the upper and tooling engineering coordination of new footwear products from sample reviews stage through commercialization and including production.
- Maintains connectivity with the product through the initial production phase and sets the QC standards.
- Monitors daily the Product Manufacturing Schedule to ensure on time delivery and reports to planning any deviation from plan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides the development manager with solid engineering support in the Asia product creation process from bulk sample review onwards. Be available to support the product development team during initial stages of development. Be available when called upon to work with factory pattern and tooling engineers in converting initial design renderings into successful and profitably commercialized product.
- Be available to support Portland and local last makers during new last development. As needed, review blue prints and other drawings to ensure accuracy and functionality of mold details. As needed, review wooden models and upper patterns to ensure design integrity.
- Managing a team of Engineering Technician and Quality Auditors.
- Manage the engineering information, ensure its accuracy and lead meetings when key engineering subjects are under review.
- Demonstrate an awareness of and engage in all phases of the Company product process. Support the development team in ensuring that projects are proven and tested, completed on time, are manufacturable, meet design intent, performance, costing and sustainability goals.
- Constantly review and evaluate the project status with you’re the Regional engineering counterparts and keep them continually in the loop regarding issues which may take the project outside of its predetermined track.
- Utilize your footwear technical skills to achieve project objectives and communicate any deviation from the projected course with the Asian developer,
- Support the Asian development team by applying technical understandings of product and category objectives, quality and fit goals, best practices, testing and consumer requirements.
- Maintain current files on all assigned models designated to you. Files should include all technical issues and sampling sequences throughout the process along with relevant laboratory test results and testing history.
- Training and mentoring of assistant engineers is a core accountability of this job and is a key function against which job performance will be measured.
- Take on the principal commercialization role as the product moves from stage of development and into full scale manufacturing ensuring that the Asian and Portland teams are fully updated on the progress.
- See new models into production and follow their progress for the life of the model.
- Daily walk the factory lines to ensure all processes are carried out correctly, that quality levels are maintained and the Q.A. Inspectors are performing their duties as required.
- Check daily production schedule is being met, report to the Regional office any deviations and work with factory to improve any delay situations.
- Check that daily bond tests and where necessary daily waterproof tests are being carried and meeting Company requirements.
Minimum Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering, or industrial design field.
- 8+ years footwear experience in a footwear engineering discipline or product creation with a global brand, including 3 – 5 years in managing subordinates
- A strong understanding of the principles of pattern engineering, costing, quality implications, model making, part drawings, and manufacturing processes.
- Project management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Demonstrated leadership capability including the ability to motivate and mentor others within the working group.
- Demonstrated skill in problem solving and results orientation.

Job description:
- Develop and maintain the Technology Development (TD) trial program to ensure scientifically robust development and commercialisation of new products and technologies.
- Collate and analyse trial information from all TD trials and ensure clear presentation of the results along with scientifically sound. recommendations on product advancement and positioning to TD team, Country Crop Team.
- Quantify new product Features, Advantages and Benefits (FAB’s) and collate information and data to assess product valuation.
- Prepare and submit all regulatory documents and supporting trial information necessary for product registration in Vietnam.
- Liaise closely with the Sales & Marketing teams to ensure that the correct products are being trialed in the correct areas and that all trial work is being conducted and managed in a consistent, structured and clearly documented manner in line with good scientific principles and company-wide TD directives.
- Liaise closely with R&D to identify commercial product opportunities for Vietnam.
- Take ownership of Traited hybrid registration, Biotech adoption and Insect Resistance Management (IRM)/ Weed Resistance Management (WRM) implementation.
- Provide People management responsibility in building the team capability of Technology Development Officers.
- Provide technical guidance, support, data, recommendations, and conduct training to commercial team to support marketing and sales.
- Provide support in the registration/regulatory process and releasing/launching of new products.
- Actively involve in the development of new protocol for emergent market
- Drive the adoption of crops in Vietnam.
- Maintain and build relationship with researchers from prominent universities and research stations.
- Responsible for updating customers of new technology information.
- Conduct Market and competition analysis.
Job requirements:
- Bachelor equivalent experience in Agronomy, Weed Science, Entomology, Soil Science, Plant Pathology or a closely related field is preferred.
- Possessed agricultural, plant physiology, weed science, statistic, Agrochem, plant protection knowledge and background.
- Experienced in conducting field trials, presentation skill and data analysis.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Proficient in MS office (especially excel).
- Ability to learn new Technology.
- Ability to lead a team of Research Associates to conduct independent trial work.
- Experienced in experimental design, field test plot management, statistics and data interpretation is required.
- Independent and self-disciplined team player who is able to work effectively without direct supervision.
- Ability to provide technical leadership to product and project teams.
- Excellent time management skills required.
- Maybe required to work in cramped positions.
- Experience with operating agricultural equipment preferred.
- Ability to coordinate with TD team in conducting independent trial work.
