Senior Merchandiser

We are now looking for a qualified candidate for the position of Senior Merchandiser, Ho Chi Minh, Việt Nam.
Salary: $2,000 - $3,000 + good benefit or negotiate
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the various stakeholders in US headquarters and locally: Product Development, Sourcing, Design, Merchandising, Quality Assurance, vendors, Mills and others to drive the development, sampling, costing, etc of assigned products.
- Manage the feasibility, completeness and clarity of specs by liaising closely with upstream partners in HQ (product development, etc)
- Review the specs with vendors in the context of intended use of product, cost expectations, material specs, manufacturability etc, and give feedback to HQ as appropriate.
- Lead the development process, ensuring that high quality prototypes are created which address desired function, aesthetics, cost and manufacturability, including checking for quality, measurement, fit and adherence to construction standards. Provide options and recommendations to make improvement in the sample process.
- Review, analyse and independently validate vendor cost information throughout the entire creation process. Ensure compliance to agreed cost standards and timelines.
- Independently negotiate with vendors for the best product cost to achieve the highest cost margin.
- Ensure all development samples (prototypes, merchant samples, and sales samples) are produced accurately and are shipped on time.
- Work collaboratively with other LO functions – Material development, Production, QA, Technician, and Corporate Responsibility to ensure an on time buy ready and commercialization performance
- Drive effective problem solving and continuous improvement
- Proactively identify potential problems and make the appropriate recommendation to the management.
- Ensure accurate and timely updates of data management systems (PDM, Cognos, Share Point) where applicable.
- Understand company and department strategy and effectively communicate those to FGVs and others
- Providing guidance and training to other team members, including cross-functional internal and external partners. Include: FGV, QA, Product Creation Team, etc.
- Providing advanced costing and development analysis to manager and home office
Job Scope/Complexity:
- Job involves a high degree of complexity in performing non-recurring work situations.
- Operates from some established procedures, but may contribute to the development of new ones.
- Responsible for mentoring junior members of the team.
Specialize:
- University degree, experience in merchandising, development, manufacturing, or related field or combination of equivalent education and related experience.
- Advanced knowledge of textiles and apparel development.
- Advanced knowledge of apparel costing
- Advanced knowledge of garment construction methods and manufacturing, materials testing methods and appropriate interaction of lab results as they pertain to products.
- Strong knowledge of materials and functional aspects of garments.
- Proven ability to effectively negotiate with vendors and influence internal stakeholders
- Ability to fit garment and communicate to vendors on the changes required
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict timelines, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work extended hours if necessary.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal communication).
- Advanced skills in using Microsoft tools: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Visual acuity for analyzing samples and color.
- Ability to travel via air or car to visit vendors across Vietnam

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Lead in the development, training and implementation of a quality system assessment and accreditation program(s).
- Work to communicate company quality assurance strategy that works to drive continuous improvement efforts within the manufacturing community.
- Build a culture that promotes quality and innovative thinking. Foster commitment to continuous improvement and process calibration across the internal and external quality system management landscape.

- Incumbent is an Individual contributor for developing Quality Systems Management Process, conducting Quality Systems Assessment, Identifying Process Enhancers at Factories used by the Company, and collaborate with vendors on continuous improvement projects.
- Duties are performed with minimal supervision, and work is validated / verified by progress made and / or by results.
- Position has high visibility and impacts Sourcing decisions.
- Errors in judgement potentially impacts source strategy and Vendor relationship.
Interpersonal Contacts:
- Contacts are normally with both Internal & External stakeholders.
- Internal Contacts may include Quality, Merchandising, Production, Compliance & Admin teams. External Quality Contacts includes Vendor partners, Testing Laboratory, Training institutes, machinery Manufacturers.
- Interactions tend to focus on information exchange, problem solving, explanation, discussion and interpretations on a regular basis, either through phone, email or face to face meetings.

Area Quality Assurance Manager

Responsibilities:
• Support change to evolve into an efficient, Best-in-Class Quality organization.
• Support and monitor initiatives that align with new Continuous Improvement direction.
• Work in close collaboration with all Sourcing Office departments to ensure efficient and effective product execution.
• Provide leadership for LOQA teams via QA Supervisor/Group Leader, promote team building and ensure consistent adherence to company QA procedures.

• Support and associate Quality Engineer with QA Supervisor/Group Leader operations in quality initiative implementation.
• Coaching and supporting QA Supervisor/Group Leader in QA associates developing program.
• Setting Goals for QA Supervisor/Group Leader, Follow up, review and evaluate QA Supervisor/Group Leader performance periodically.
• Coaching, Leading both two Area QA departments to align with Corporate QA Strategy. Communicates the Corporate QA plan down thru the Area QA organizations and all Vendors within Vietnam to ensure clear understanding and ownership.
• The Area QA Manager will report to the Regional QA Manager and Corporate QA Department, with strong dotted line reporting to the SEA LO Sourcing Office Director.
