Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:
- To support the roll out and implementation of the environmental programme aspects in the supply chain in key countries (Cambodia, Thailand and where needed in the Asia Pacific region)
- Priority is on all direct suppliers but eventually covering indirect suppliers or additional business coverage needs (across all divisions)
- To enhance the internal EH&S capabilities and provide coverage on technical matters in the Region
- Work on strategic projects and activities (taking on various roles and responsibilities) defined by SEA global initiatives
- Report goal progresses and achievements (updated at least quarterly or as needed) defined in the SEA Global Targets
Key Responsibilities:
General
- Engage in dialogue with third parties, including NGO, Government bodies and professional institutions to further the goals and transparency of the SEA programme.
- Identify the areas of risk to the company in respect of working conditions and standards as related to Environment, Health and Safety. Provide to the Director and Senior Managements recommendations in respect of those risks, based on legal obligations and SEA requirements
- Keep updated on all EHS legislation in the countries falling under scope, report any updates to the Director and Senior Management and update all necessary documentations. Review any updates with SEA team members.
Environmental Programme
- Train all nominated suppliers, both direct and indirect, on the scope of the environmental programme and the use of all relevant tools including but not limited to the audit and verification tools, Environmental KPI, Strategic Compliance Plan (SCP) and Environmental Metrics Reporting Tool (EMeReT).
- Provide input into the quarterly/annual supplier programme assessments (ASPECT, GASA & FACT)
- Identify training needs of supplier base to support the overall drive towards and development of a self-governing supply chain.
- Assist in updating any environmental tools, programmes, and strategy as defined by global SEA initiatives
- Provide ongoing support to suppliers regarding SEA Environmental Programme, tools, guidelines, and strategic targets
EMeReT
- Train all suppliers on the use of EMeReT and drive accuracy of data that is reported by suppliers
- Conduct quarterly/annual data quality review and conduct statistical analysis of supplier-provided environmental and resource management data in the company’s EMeReT database
- Deliver quarterly/annual assessment report, including gap analysis and recommendations, for each supplier in the relevant and pre-specified product category and division.
- Provide ongoing support to suppliers regarding data entry
Higg Index Environmental Facilities Module
- Train nominated suppliers on the Higg Index Facilities Environmental (Self-Assessment) Module based on existing material and support the implementation process.
- Conduct verification assessments of suppliers’ completed Higg Self Assessments and provide guidance to the suppliers in driving improvements. Where required, conduct any additional environmental audits of nominated factories and to work with them on addressing any issues identified.
- Ensure timely completion and delivery of results from the Independent External Environmental Monitor (IEEM) that is commissioned to conduct the Higg Index verification audit
- Engage in the audit process and follow up with the individual suppliers to drive environmental improvement
- Conduct annual IEEM performance evaluation
Chemical Management Audit (CMA)/Higg Convergence
- Oversee the implementation of the CMA/Higg Convergence for material suppliers and any other nominated suppliers in the countries falling under scope
- Ensure timely completion and delivery of results from the Independent External Environmental Monitor (IEEM) that is commissioned to conduct the CMA
- Engage in the audit process and follow up with the individual suppliers to drive environmental improvement
- Provide support and necessary training to suppliers for successful implementation and conformance to wastewater guideline, MRSL, chemical management and disposal etc.
- Support ZDHC project and initiatives as outlined by SEA global initiatives
- Conduct annual IEEM performance evaluation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently as well as working in a cross functional team
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal English, Vietnamese, and Chinese is desirable
- Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and data management systems
- Up to 50% travel required
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in the area(s) of Environment / Chemical
- Background in Sustainability/Environment Management (Engineering/ Chemical / Process / Industrial / Environmental) and / or Manufacturing (Textile / Footwear)
